Gestational diabetes is a type of diabetes that occurs during the pregnancy period of a woman. This type of diabetes would not be considered as real diabetes for the reason that the glucose level in the patient is high only during the pregnancy period and as soon as the woman delivers the baby, the glucose level gets normal once again. However, it can bring various complications to the baby and the mother, as both of them are very much susceptible to suffer health issues. This can over-increase the size of the baby and may get the baby blocked in the birth canal. Premature births might also occur that may lead to respiratory problems in the baby and increase the risk of type2 diabetes later in the life of the baby. The baby may also suffer from hypoglycemia in which is a low blood sugar condition.
