Type 2 diabetes is characterized by the resistance of body fat, muscle cells and liver towards insulin, which leads to insufficiency of glucose and energy in these vital body parts. Thus, a situation develops where there is a high concentration of sugar in the blood cells (hyperglycemia). Type 2 diabetes graduates over a period of time and is often more common among overweight and obese because of the presence of excess fat in their bodies, which makes it even tougher for the body to use insulin.
Patients of Type 2 diabetes, often, do not show any early signs of the disease. This is also the reason that it mostly shows up in the old age. The symptoms develop over a period of time and some symptoms stay hidden for years. In fact, over 33% people suffering from Type 2 diabetes are ignorant about their diabetes status. - Weight loss without even trying and without any other reason
- Frequent headaches and blurred vision
- Mouth dryness
- General fatigue and feeling of weakness and tiredness without any plausible cause
- Frequently occurring and slow-healing gastrointestinal infections of the bladder and kidney
